Season 2020/21 is slowly taking shape and there is absolutely no doubt the way we play cricket has changed immeasurably. Cricket Victoria and the NWMCA have issued guidelines for clubs to prepare to Return to Train and Play. ASJCC has developed our Covid Safety Protocols from these recommendations.

It will take a lot of adjustment and will only be successful if we work together - but by following guidelines, we can ensure that all members are safe and healthy and are able to play and watch the game we love all summer.

New COVID-19 Guidelines for Cricket

The NWMCA have published new rules for how cricket will be played on match days. A comprehensive list of the new rules can be found here. All players are expected to be read up on the changes and adhere to them at all times. NWMCA umpires will also help captains on match days to ensure all grades are adhering to the new rules.

NWMCA Updates

The NWMCA have provided updates for all the codes - Mens, Womens and Juniors. These presentations can be found by clicking here. These presentations detail the structure of the season, start dates for home and away matches, as well as proposed finals schedules. Please note that these are subject to change at any given time.

ASJCC Covid Safety

The ASJCC Safety protocols are comprehensive and wide-ranging. We have a comprehensive Covid-Safe plan in place - and to date 15 club members are Covid-Safety trained and certified. Once the pavilion is released to us for the Summer Season, we will have appropriate signage around the building. All players will be required to follow social distancing measures and when not playing, wear a mask at all times.

Sanitisation stations and supplies will be available throughout the season. Away captains will have 'Covid kits' to take to the grounds and the pavilion will have a club kit with a touch free thermometer for temperature checks. All players are also encouraged to have their own supply of sanitisation supplies as part of their standard cricket kit - as important as pads and a helmet.

The club's Covid Safe Plans can be found here and here. A copy will be available at the pavilion at all times.

Contact Tracing

All members of the club are required to check in and check out when attending the pavilion for any reason. ASJCC have a QR code that can be scanned and submitted via your smartphone. Training officials will be on hand to show you how to check in. You can download your copy of the QR code poster here.

The QR code will be displayed at the Fairbairn Park pavilion and laminated copies can be found in each of the Covid kits. It is the home team's responsibility to encourage checking in and out for players, family members, supporters and officials.

It's a lot to take in, but there is no shortage of members on hand to help make sense of it all. If you have any questions, please feel free to email President Lauren Gourlay (president.asjcc@gmail.com).

Together we can forge on to the summer of cricket. Because we are The Two Blues.
